Lustrasilk olive oil cholesterol conditioner

One word CRAP to the MAX! I had heard rave reviews about the shea butter and mango version of this product unfortunately I don’t live that near the store about an hour away so I decided to get the olive oil variety I applied this to my hair freshly washed and sealed in. This left my hair feeling mega dry for some unknown reason till I looked at the ingredients -oh HELLO THERE  ALCOHOL! I’ve heard of it being used as a pre poo treatment combined with a little olive oil or coconut oil to increase potency but have yet to try this when I do I’ll let you guys know.

update 2014: still continued to be a rubbish product unfortunately

Cantu butter-Leave in repair conditioner

I used this on and off for a period of about 3 months on average about once a week, I found it frankly to be drying and hardly imparted any moisture to my hair really wasn’t impressed with it. It left a whitey residue on my hair and didn’t combine well with certain products I unfortunately found  this out the hard way and still have a tub full of it which I am currently trying to palm off onto my younger sister like the darling I am –remember readers sharing is caring J

Ecostyler olive oil gel

I have used this on twists and twist outs and for slicking down edges. I found it to be very moisturising not drying my hair out or making my edges dry and crusty as compared to some of the other gels on the market, one downside about it was that although it claims to have alot of hold I did not find it to especially when I came to wearing afro puffs and wanted to slick both large areas of hair in the back and front the hold wasn’t so good perhaps I should try the ecostyler protein variety?

Africas best herbal oil

I bought this and used it for a period of 4-5 months on my body aswell as my hair as a sealant, its worked wonders leaving my hair nice and shiny but not sticky and gloopy like some oils can do. I am sure it will be fab as a hot oil treatment although I haven’t used it as this yet. I used the full bottle which is unusual for me I usually get tired of a product and stop using it before the bottle reaches half way. It has a nice light scent and nice consistency. Thumbs up 9/10 and its good buy for money conscious buyers aswell.

Herbal essences Totally twisted conditioner

This was a good conditioner i used it for a period of 3 months on and off it added moisture to my hair and really defined my curls I would recommend this as a wash out conditioner especially for wash and go’s though .Although it did make mine very shrunken the curls were a popping J I used this as a leave in once didn’t really like it left my hair feeling a bit sticky then the next day it had quite a drying effect.

Twisted sista different strokes serum-Urban therapy

Instantly eliminates frizz for both straight and curly hairstyles
I saw this product in BeautyBox for £1.99 and was having problems with frizzies, so decided to give it a whirl. I applied it on freshly washed hair after my leave in but before the oil sealant and twisted my hair up into about 20 twists. When I unraveled them about 12 hours later and put my hair into a puff it was slightly smoother. It’s not a product I will sing to the heavens about as it didn’t have that much effect and was frankly a waste of money. I tried it again on dry, 3 day old, hair this time and it had absolutely no effect whatsoever. So unless I give it away it’s for the trash can.

Dabur Vatika Oil

My mum came across this in a Asian store and we decided to try a bottle, as I have heard so many wonderful things about coconut oil. J It seems to be a Godsend for many naturalistas! I tried this as a pre-poo detangler first of all. When it came to washing my hair it didn’t feel dry at all afterwards and had extra bounce and shiny curls. Then I have also used it mixed up in homemade deep conditioner mix it works wonders in that as well. I don’t really use it after I wash my hair though as I’m a bit finikity about the smell. But I’ve used it on my sister’s hair as a sealant and it was baby soft the next day. I continue to use this as part of my pre-poo and deep conditioning part of my regime.

Organics Hair Mayonaise

Organics Hair Mayonnaise
I saw this product for sale for £1.99 for a standard sized tub so thought I would give it a go (I usually used ORS hair mayonnaise). I used this 3 -4 times over about a 3 month period.
Applying the product was fine, it made my hair easier to detangle and the scent is ok. My friends say it smells a bit like burnt plastic/faintly of egg  J .So I left this on my hair for about 2 hours whilst doing housework then proceeded to wash it off. It washed off easily and did leave my hair noticeably smoothly and stronger, but not an amazing product. The ORS is better as it works in a shorter amount of time and yields better results even though it is more expensive. I wondered if maybe some mixology might help it. I’m not sure what to add though maybe half an egg? Any ideas?

Hair product review :)

Hollywood Beauty Carrot Crème
This product claims to prevent hair breakage with 4 vitamins, beta carotene and 3 essentials oils.
I tried this product on and off for a period of approximately 2 months and I have to say I was not impressed at all.
It did absolutely nothing for my hair expect maybe from imparting some minimal amount of moisture. It even made my hair rather dry on one occasion. I don’t know how this is possible! loooool the smell of the product is average, nothing special. It smells quite artificial to be honest slightly carroty if anything. My younger sister also used it for about 3 months she said it was nothing special and she prefers the olive oil version or Dr Miracle’s hair pomade.
All in all we would never recommend this product to anyone, ever.

Product review

Garnier Fructis Repair and Shine Conditioner
I bought this when it was on sale 99p for 250ml about 5-6 months ago in my local Wilkinson’s as I have heard alot of great reviews on it, in the UK there’s been a lot of rave about it from various online forums mostly UK based ones so decided to give it a whirl. I thought it would be smart to buy 4 bottles of it in case I liked it. I thought that if I didn’t I could always let my older and younger sisters try it.
I have used it on about 10 different occasions as a rinse out conditioner; I have to say I wasn’t that impressed. It was ok I would say average nothing special my curls didn’t pop that much. Neither did it impart a lot of moisture on my hair, which is one of the main things I was looking for. As a detangler in the shower it’s nothing special.
The smell of it is quite nice but I could imagine it would get quite sickly after regular use, to me it has a quite appley scent.
After a period of not using it I decided to try it as a leave in conditioner, as some people had been doing. I applied approximately a dime sized amount to freshly co washed hair. I finger combed it through sections then went on to seal with my oil it made for good detangling and didn’t feel to heavy either. I then put my hair in 12 or so twists and put these in perm rods.
The morning after my hair hadn’t set properly in the rods(I think this is due to this being the first time I had done it and poor technique) but my hair was feeling very soft moisturised and manageable, more than the leave in I use regularly (ORS olive oil hair moisturising lotion).
As a rinse out this gets a 5.5 out of 10
As a leave this gets a 6.75 out of 10
